Hi, I am tawny…

First of all, thank you for visiting my website as you determine which nutrition coaching, strength training, or athletic performance program is right for you.

I'm on a mission to help you create a lifestyle you love and will sustain long-term. I could not be more excited to get started!

Not only am I here to help support you in reaching your specific goals, but also help you better your relationship with food, movement, energy balance, and healthy living overall.

MY BACKGROUND…

I am a former professional NBA, WHL, and AFL Dancer turned Fitness and Nutrition Coach. I am based in the Portland, OR area and I currently coach individual clients both in-person and online, as well as coach group CrossFit classes at CrossFit Tigard and Kraken Strength Sherwood. I’m an L2 CrossFit Certified Trainer and experienced in the Precision Nutrition L1 methodology.

I started my coaching career in 2016 as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer working in a traditional globo gym setting (ex. 24 Hour Fitness), simultaneously instructing group classes as a Certified Barre Instructor at boutique studios in Portland. I began coaching CrossFit in 2018, and never looked back!

MY STORY…

Prior to my coaching career, I struggled through my own fitness and nutrition journey for years, some healthier than others… Quick-fixes and yo-yo diets? I probably tried it. Waist-trainers and diet pills? You bet I bought them. Low-carb, Keto, Whole 30, High-carb - I did them all. But it’s worth it to mention, that every time I failed, I got a tiny bit healthier.

Fast forward to today and it’s hard to believe i’ve danced professionally in the Portland, OR area on and off the last 8 years, and have been coaching professionally for the last 6! I’m the fittest i’ve ever been in my entire life and have FINALLY figured out the right combination of training, nutrition, mental health practices, and sleep to live the best and healthiest version yet of my life.

There was a time though, I remember feeling absolutely stuck. Feeling legitimately like I was broken or fundamentally flawed somehow. Feeling like other people had unlocked this huge metabolic secret specific to them, that I just didn’t have (and wouldn’t ever). I felt like giving up. I felt alone in my experience and it was both devastating and lonely.

The one thing I did right, was fail better. I kept getting up and trying something else. Something inside me, never let me throw in the towel… and I am so grateful for it.

The reality is, I didn’t have the right systems in place to be successful. I didn’t have the right knowledge to create (let alone implement) a training and nutrition program that would give me the results I was actually looking for. THEN, once I had that down, I struggled with the discipline required to see results or any evidence of the work I was putting in (or thought I was).

What breaks my heart is knowing that TOO MANY people out there feel the same way. I know all too well exactly what desperate frustration feels like. I can hear it in my first conversation with new clients. I can hear it when talking with people who haven’t yet opened their mind to coaching. The lack of self-belief and self-confidence is devastating to me.

When I think back to how I built myself back up, over and over again, through trial and error, I also think of my favorite coaches. These are people who helped me collect all my broken parts and then gave me all the tools to rebuild myself better than before. Because I did all the work, the mental and personal growth that came from transforming the physical was unreal (IS UNREAL), I never stop trying to grow.

Point being, I am a completely different, much more evolved version of myself than when I started my fitness journey. The lifelong process of practicing discipline, being relentless, being uncomfortable, practicing self-awareness, accountability, ownership, and taking care of my mind and body has led me to become and continue to strive to be the best human I can to date. Prioritizing health and fitness gave me that. Great coaches gave me that.

Whenever I help my clients hit a PR on a lift, acquire a new gymnastics skill that’s been frustrating them, or finally lose body fat they haven’t been able to lower on their own, my heart sings. My cup is full and I know I’m in line with what i’m meant to do.

My life has been transformed by these things and given purpose. Through my own struggle, trial and error, and the wide variety of clients with very different goals and backgrounds I’ve worked with, not only am I equipped to know exactly what and what NOT to do… I know with 100% confidence, I can give you all the appropriate knowledge and tools required for you to be successful (in a fraction of the time it took me!).

It’s never too late to start (or begin again). Real, lasting change is CRAZY HARD. There is no shortcut. The only thing remotely close to a shortcut is to admit that there isn’t one, and to get full clarity and focus on what your systems are.

How are you eating? How are you training? Do those things complement each other? What is your energy like? How do you recover from workouts? How is your sleep? How do you fix your head-game when things go wrong?

(P.S. this is where I come in!)

If any of this sounds familiar or resonates with you, but you have no idea where to start, I got you!

I couldn’t be more excited for you! If there is work you want to do… LET’S DO IT!!!

xoxo
